August 7, 2025 | Yangon, Myanmar- Myanmar's esports team, YG Yangon Galacticos, received a heroes' welcome upon their return to Yangon after winning the world championship at the Esports World Cup. The team was greeted at Yangon International Airport by a large crowd of fans, along with Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and other officials.

The team competed in the PUBG Mobile event at the world-class Esports World Cup, which took place from July 25 to August 3 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. YG Yangon Galacticos secured the championship title, making Myanmar proud.

The victorious team consisted of a total of eight members, including the manager, coach, and players. They returned to Yangon by air at 11:30 a.m. on August 7. A welcoming crowd was on hand to greet them, including Chief Minister U Soe Thein, officials from the Myanmar Esports Federation, members of the Yangon Region Sports Promotion Committee, students from the Institute of Sports and Physical Education, and numerous sports fans.

YG Yangon Galacticos competed against 24 top teams from 16 countries, including the host country Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, India, China, South Korea, Japan, Turkey, Egypt, Brazil, and several European nations.

In the final standings, Myanmar's YG Yangon Galacticos took first place, followed by China in second, and Mongolia in third. In addition to the gold medal, the team was awarded a prize of $550,000.

Over 1,000 teams and approximately 5,000 professional players from more than 100 countries participated in the tournament.A welcome ceremony for the world champions, YG (Yangon Galacticos), was also held at People's Square in Yangon.
