The SAC (State Administration Council)chairman today has commuted the court sentences of State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi and President Win Myint.

President U Win Myint, who is facing trial in a special court in Naypyidaw Council, was sentenced to two years in prison under Section 25 of the Disaster Management Law and two years under Section 505 of the Penal Code, and State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, was sentenced to four years in prison under similar sections.

Tonight, the SAC chairman granted both a two-year amnesty under Section 401 of the Criminal Procedure Code, sub-section 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code, and sentenced the remaining two years  in current detention places under Section 541, Sub-section 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
