According to an official statement from the State Administration Council (SAC), Chairman and Prime Minister of Myanmar, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, informed the Prime Minister of Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, that reports on social media claiming that around 700 Muslims died while performing prayers at religious gatherings are incorrect. He clarified that the actual number of casualties is around 500.

During a phone conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on the evening of March 31, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing provided an update on the damage and casualties caused by the major earthquake in Myanmar. He clarified that the number of deceased individuals had been identified and that search and rescue operations were still ongoing.

He also expressed his gratitude for Pakistan's outreach and willingness to provide humanitarian aid. In response, the Pakistani Prime Minister acknowledged Myanmar's continuous efforts in search and rescue operations and expressed his deep condolences for the losses. He further stated that Pakistan prays for the swift recovery of those affected.

Pakistan’s government and people are sending 35 tons of humanitarian aid in two air shipments, along with an additional 17 tons of relief supplies. Moreover, Pakistan has pledged to provide further assistance if necessary.
